How do I install an Airalo eSIM via a QR Code on my iOS device?
Not all iOS devices are eSIM-compatible, so it’s a good idea to check that your device supports eSIMs before getting started. Please follow the steps in this article to check if your iOS device supports eSIMs and is carrier-unlocked.
Once you have confirmed that your iOS device supports eSIMs and is connected to a stable internet connection, you can follow these steps to set up an eSIM.
I. INSTALLATION
- OPEN the Airalo app.
- TAP My eSIMs.
- TAP the eSIM you want to install.
- TAP View Instructions.
- TAP QR Code.
- TAP Share QR Code, then TAP Save Image.
- EXIT the Airalo app, then GO to Settings.
- TAP Cellular or Mobile.
- TAP Add eSIM.
- TAP Use QR Code.
- TAP Open Photos.
- SELECT the saved QR code.
- TAP Continue twice.
- WAIT a few minutes for your eSIM to activate.
- TAP Done.
- ADD a Cellular/Mobile Plan Label to the newly installed eSIM.
- TAP Secondary.
- ENTER Airalo or your preferred label.
- TAP Done.
- TAP Continue.
- SELECT your Primary line for calls and text messages.
- TAP Continue.
- SELECT your Primary line for iMessage & FaceTime.
- TAP Continue.
- SELECT your Airalo eSIM for Cellular/Mobile Data.
- ENSURE that Allow Cellular Data Switching is turned off.
- TAP Continue.
After completing these steps, the installation page will close.
Once your eSIM is installed, follow the instructions on the eSIM installation page to ensure proper connectivity.
II. ACCESSING DATA
- TAP your eSIM.
- ENSURE that the eSIM is enabled. If not, toggle Turn On This Line.
- CHECK if you need to enable Data Roaming on your device by opening the Airalo app and viewing your eSIM instructions.
- TOGGLE Data Roaming ON or OFF.
- GO to Cellular or Mobile Settings.
- TAP Cellular or Mobile Data and select your eSIM.
Your eSIM should automatically connect to a supported mobile network.
